AliKats is an independent luxury chalet company based in Morzine in the French Alps, run by Al & Kat Judge. We started with one chalet in 2011 and have now expanded our portfolio to consist of 6 catered and 6 self-catered chalets.
Excellent food is at the heart of an AliKats holiday and we work really hard to put together interesting and varied menus that will delight our guests. Almost everything is made from scratch using local, seasonal sustainable ingredients wherever possible.
We are looking for a KP/commis chef who understands and shares our values and will ensure that the food being delivered in the chalets each day is of the highest quality.
This position would suit someone for a passion for food who has some cooking ability but is looking to develop skills working in a professional kitchen alongside more experienced chefs.
Tasks and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Washing up & cleaning down the central kitchen to meet the highest hygiene standards.
- Keeping the kitchen equipment clean and well organised
- Helping with stock rotation and some shopping
- Accurately portioning and packing up food on a daily basis for delivery to the chalets, taking into account complicated guest dietary requirements and fluctuating guest numbers.
- Helping with food prep as needed by the chefs
- Developing new cooking skills gradually throughout the season
Skills & experience
- Passion for food & cooking
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Previous administrative work experience would be preferable.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work hard
- Previous experience working in a kitchen would be preferable
- Minimum age of 21 (as specified by our vehicle insurer)
- A full manual driving license that allows you to drive in Europe.
- An interest in skiing/snowboarding or love for the mountains.
